In fact, by the end of my first season, Mercedes was always in row 4, I don't know why but they didn't improve their car at all throughout the season. BTW I managed to get McLaren 2nd best.
Hmm sounds a bit extreme. I haven't played through a season (or even a race weekend!) yet due to a lack of free time but I hope the change isn't always that dramatic. They can always patch it I guess.

Out of interest what difficulty did you play on? Don't know if that would make any difference to how quickly your car progresses.
I play on expert, but I do free practice on hard to improve my car without too much effort.
How do you change difficulty mid session? Couldn't see a way to change that.
Still loving this game...
You can change difficulty through the loading menus (when moving on to the next GP or resuming your career from main menu).

Ah that was my issue, was trying to change difficulty during the session - thanks

Changing difficulty is a very sensible option in Career mode since it gets harder and harder every season. I'm on my third season, and the IA has improved an awful lot since my first races while I seem to be stuck in the same performance.

During my first season I was between 0,5 and 0,8 seconds faster than my team mate in expert difficulty. Now in the 3rd season it is the opposite case.

Just started playing this over the last couple of weeks. Without a doubt the best F1 game made so far, I love the development side and how crucial practice sessions are. The one MASSIVE flaw however is the lack of split screen miltiplayer. I actually don't think I'll ever buy another F1 game unless they bring it back. It's a racing game, surely actually racing should be included in the package somewhere

I'd be surprised if split-screen returned to any non-arcade racing games now. The markets are tailored towards online play.

My missus bit the bullet and bought me a PS4 for my birthday last week, and my mother-in-law bought me a copy of F1 2016 (another pleasant surprise!), the only problem was that we had just moved house and are STILL waiting for our broadband to be installed, so I was playing the game (and PS4) unpatched.

I tried setting up my career and when I put in my surname (Curtis) it flashed a message saying it can't be used as it may cause offence. Has anyone else had this and, more importantly, do the recent patches get rid of this?

It happened to me as well, but in a different game. In career mode you shouldn't get that error, since it is single player.

Looks like the patch worked - my name is no longer offensive

Started my career with Williams (a la Lance) on master difficulty. So far I'm impressed. The handling's a little snaky (especially in the wet) but CM finally seem to have taken a step in the right direction.

Hit all my targets in free practice and was in the top 10 in a wet Q2 until Alonso (who else?) put me in the drop zone in the dying seconds. So started P11 and worked my way up to P7 behind Bottas until I undercut him at the midway point, so finished my debut race in P6. Happy Claire. Next stop Bahrain.

The AI is much more aggressive which is good, although they tend to come too close and pitch you into a spin for no reason!

Still waiting for my broadband to be installed so I can see what the online action is like.

There's still some things I'd like to see included and some things taken out, but so far this is the best F1 game they've done.

Just got the game and love everything about it except for the AI.

Let's just say that they are overly agressive and will hit you often. It used to be better than this, come on CM.
