Due to the unprecedent success and subsequent overwhelming demand resulting from the 'Game of Thrones' thread... Here at last is a thread for all things TV.

What I'm currently watching and would recommend:

Game of Thrones (see thread)

The Borgias - Created by Neil Jordan. Jeremy Irons plays the pope. If you know either of these then that is all the incentive you need to give it a go. Imho, between them they have made a show that is truly brilliant. Now at the end of season 2, I can't find a single fault with it, other than that I wish there were more episodes.

Dexter - Lost a little of it's flair from the first two seasons but still damn good. If you haven't seen it then you may have missed out.

Personally I'll watch anything with Gordon Ramsay as I always feel motivated to get up and do something productive afterwards. I avoid anything with Charlie Sheen as I think he is the worst ambassador for the human race on tv. I love just about anything Joss Whedon does, although it isn't a great idea to tell your mates that you enjoyed the Buffy series while having a pint.

Greatest tv moment: Only fools and horses - xmas special - the batman and robin scene... genius.

Sad to admit but I can't miss Goldrush on Discovery. Has there ever been a more incompetent collection of people attempting to do something on TV? And what's with the beards!!!!!

Can't wait for season 3 of Boardwalk Empire - really good show IMO.
Also can't wait for new episodes of Regular Show

In the same vein I like Rock Stars. For those of you who havn't watched it let me give you the $1 tour. Bunch of guys push rocks down the sides of road cuttings where there's a risk of rock fall. By doing so in a controlled manner so nobody gets hurt they preserve truth, justice and the American way.

It's a real flimsy premise for a TV show but it's got that so bad it's become good again feel about it.

I have loads of TV shows I watch.

At the moment airing, Continuum, Alphas and Falling Skies for my sci fi fix. Perception which is about a schizophrenic psychologist that helps to solve crimes. Rookie Blue which is about Canadian cops. Both their professional and personal lives.

watched the Wire and Sopranos (two of the best shows i've ever seen, hands down!)

Stargate SG1 is something i loved! although only recently did i have the courage to watch the last 2 season (9/10)

i loved the 24 series and i'm quite looking forward to the movies, will be interesting how they will fit 24 hours style into a 2 hour movie!

i watched Lost, after much convincing and it was alright enough


Love Supernatural! can't wait till the next season and i also LOOVEEEE community! give me a bit of Alison Brie any day!!!

watched Firefly and i'm a bit sad that it was only one season long

Sun Sea and A&E (and their ilk) Watching people go to the Costa Packet or their Greek and Turkish equivalents, Get totaly hammered in the nightclubs and then wind up in the local hospital with UBIs or PAFO syndrome.

Not to everyone's tastes, but I have massively got into The Walking Dead, I think the first series was fantastic, second series took longer to get going but once it did was just as good.

Don't watch much TV nowadays since I work overnight.

I totally LOVE Breaking Bad. Bryan Cranston is THE MAN. His character in Malcolm in the Middle is almost the polar opposite of his character in Breaking Bad but he is so ducking amazing as both!

I used to watch True Blood but I got bored with it, but I like the new HBO show The Newsroom.

I love The Simpsons and Family Guy. IMO The Simpsons have been getting better over the last three seasons and Family Guy has been getting worse over the last two (worse for Family Guy, which is still better than many shows ).

As for reality shows, I like Cops, Ice Road Truckers and Mythbusters. The only competition shows I like are Wipeout and Big Brother.

As for shows that are not on the air anymore, I watched anything from Joss Whedon. I saw the first 4-5 seasons of Lost but stopped once I realized that the writers have put themselves into a huge hole they would never get out of. I also remember listening to Dave Navarro's radio show (Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro. He doesn't have the show anymore.) one day and he said that one of the writers, who he was friends with, told him that nobody really knew where they were going with anything, and they didn't really know how to tie it all together, and this was said at some point in the first half of the series' run! Speaking of JJ Abrams' shows, I loved Alias. It's actually the first time I remember seeing Ricky Gervais (he guest starred as a bomber in season 3).

I used to watch Ninja Warrior and Attack of the Show on G4 but DirecTV stopped carrying the G4 network about 2 years ago.

TV has not been missed recently even with my viewing down massively recently.

Too many shows start off brilliant & by the end off the series or into series 2 get over dramatic, unrealistic & frankly boring. I am talking about shows like - Ice Road Truckers (every show now has a near miss or almost death till it's sorted just, usually after a break) after series 1 & 2 being great. Total Wipeout - Hammond is pointless, Any quiz show - Millionaire, Pointless, The chase are all filled with time fillers, reminding us of the easy to grasp nature of the show.

I've started watching Warehouse 13, and Eureka. Genius sci fi. In Eureka, the sheriff lives in a cold war bunker that has been spruced up, and has AI controlling it. Only thing is that the house is voiced by the male inventor putting on a female voice, and is neurotic in the extreme.

YES I love Alison Brie (and community)! Especially since her sexuality is totally different to her character's.

I also love how i met your mother and top gear.

Got to say i was stunned to find out that Rick is played by a Brit.

Homeland S2 starts in the US on September 30th. Showtime have released the season two trailer. Looks epic.

For those who haven't ever watched Homeland, it's about a CIA field agent who gets some intel that a POW in Iraq has been turned and has been sent back to the US as a sleeper agent, and her battle to get people to believe her and stop the planned terrorist act.
It's also very very good, and might be still available on 4OD. Either way, I can't recommend it enough.

I'm just close to the end of watching the 4 seasons of The Tudors. Excellent series and a brilliant interpretation on the characters and history of the time. Apparently (according to my missus who fancies him) Jonathan Rhys Meyers lives not far up the road from us.

Not currently on 4OD but is available to buy on DVD. C4 have already bought the rights to S2 and rumours are it will be shown in the UK "possibly within days" of it airing in the US, rather than us having to wait 4 months like we did with S1.

House was a bridge too far imo, it's okay but the ending felt rushed to me, and some of it just seemed padded out to hell. For my money, they should have ended House at the end of 6.


Regarding Smallville, it's quite good, especially in the later years. The trouble is, I think the writers had all the imagination and comic book stories to make a brilliant show, but they ended up not having the cash to get it done. So it's weeks of build up then it doesn't go so far. I still say it's worth watching, and I actually thank you because I saw someone in a film that looks like the a character from Smallville and I've finally realized who it was. Been bugging me for weeks. Anyway, it is pretty good. Just remember that despite it getting high ratings, it didn't get huge amounts of cash to play with. I'd suggest it is worth watching the whole thing, but it doesn't really get good until they end high school.

Looked for a Hebrew version ages ago with English subs, but haven't found one. The redub in English is called Prisoners of War, but it's quite expensive on DVD, so I'm waiting for a price drop.

The Event was complete dross, had all the usual exciting preview clips prior to airing only then, IMO, to be a complete let down. FlashForward was even worse!

Sky Arts showed Prisoners of War (Hatufim) a little while ago (around May/June IIRC) and unfortunately I missed it. I know a couple of people of who have seen it and their view is that its as good, if not better than Homeland. I keep checking On Demand to see if they are showing it again!

I watch 2 things on TV: Motorsport [mainly F1, occasionally BTCC but I normally have to catch up on that later] and Doctor Who.

I used to love thrilling series like 24, Prison Break, Lost and BSG. It's a shame all of them are now ended and the only thing I find to come close to their level these days is The Walking Dead. Besides that, is there anything out there now or maybe coming up for fans of the aforementioned thriller series?

Homeland. Watch the trailer for season one on youtube (it's NSFW so I won't post it here)

The Last Resort starting in the US in their fall season sounds pretty good as well. A US Nuclear submarine gets orders to fire at Pakistan, and when they ask for confirmation of the order, they get fired on, and the crew is burned (in the blacklisting way, not the fire way), so they pilot the sub to an island, and try to figure out why they were given that order, and then almost killed.

The Following which starts in January (well, midseason it says), sounds interesting as well: WHAT: The thriller revolves around a deranged serial killer (played by Purefoy) who creates his own cult of murderers via the wonders of technology, and the retired FBI profiler (Bacon) who is hunting him down.

NBC are doing a show based on Thomas Harris' Lecter universe, that deals with the early relationship between Lecter and Will Graham. Could be awesome, could be Hannibal Rising.

Zero Hour says: WHAT: A thriller about a magazine editor (Edwards) who becomes involved in one the most compelling conspiracies in human history when his wife is kidnapped. Sounds intriguing.

I usually watch Eurosport (cycling, snooker, Renault 3,5 and winter sports etc.)


From TV shows I watch Top Gear, South Park, Doctor Who and Tudors. I'm huge fan of Who, but they stopped airing it after season one of new series. Only 1 year ago or so some BBC channel showed series 5 and it was the best show I've ever seen on TV. Series 6 was brilliant too. Later I watched the episodes with 10th Doctor, but he isn't that good as 9th and 11th. RTD lost the plot after writing great 1st series.

I was huge fan of House, but I stopped watching it around series 6 or 7. Prison Break was great till series 3 when they went to jail again. Annoying.

I never got into Lost or Games of Thrones.

And there is BBC Sherlock too, but they are cruel. How could they plan filming series 3 in 2013? Poor Watson will have to wait more than year to find out that Sherlock isn't dead.

I saw the advert last night and think it looks up my street, but thought I'd seek an alternative viewpoint.

I'd never even have heard of it, if not for the fact I was watching American Dad at like 3am and saw an advert. Going to tesco later, if they have it I'll buy it otherwise I'll Amazon/Play it. Also getting Homeland off my brother to watch as well.

I've order Prisoners of War on DVD. Tells me 8 days for delivery with Amazon Prime. Not entirely sure why, unless it's being shipped from Israel? Still, it gives me time to watch Mesrine.

New Doctor Who and New Thick of It.

Thick of it is as good as ever, though Malcom Tucker isn't in it as much as I'd like...

Doctor Who... I watch it every week since it re-debuted in 2005 or so. However, I find it painfully disappointing to watch. When it has good episodes, they tend to be absolutely brilliant. When it is pretty average, I find it really disappointing to watch. Great episodes usually only come about 2-3 times per 13 episode series though.

Also been watching Star Trek Deep Space 9... I'm not sure I even like Star Trek. I've got TNG, Voyager and Enterprise and have watched them all, but I really think the only good Star Trek was the TOS Movies. Have seen only very limited TOS episodes though. I think I like the idea of liking Star Trek (being a geek) more than I actually like it. That said, DS9 appears to be building up to something by mentioning an evil group a few times. Be nice to see where it goes.

On the subject of TV shows, Revolution premiered last night. Looks quite good from the trailer.

I've got hooked on Breaking Bad recently. I always liked Cranston since "Malcolm in the middle", I can't believe he hasn't made it better in the big movies. The guy can do comedy, drama, everything. Really really like him.

Apart from that I like "Burn notice" and "Games of Thrones" is not bad either.
