Arie Luyendyk JR, new Bachelor former "F1 driver"?

OK, so I saw that Arie Jr is on the show the Bachelor and reading his bio this is what it says on the official website....

"Born in the Netherlands, Arie, 35, and his family immigrated to the United States when he was just three years old. Son of famed Formula One racer, Arie Luyendyk Sr., a two-time Indianapolis 500 winner, Arie Jr. followed in his father's footsteps. He made a name for himself, speeding his own way into the Indy 500. After a career as a respected Formula 1 racer, he shifted gears and is now a successful real estate broker in Scottsdale, Arizona"

Someone explain to me how this makes it on the website? A1 isn't F1 and to be called a "respected F1 racer" to me means you completed at a fairly decent level in F1 and not Indy Lights. I am not saying he isn't a decent driver, but stuff like this rubs me wrong.

Why so bothered by this? At least to me it is no big deal... we are talking about the "Bachelor" after all.

Just kind of interesting how you hear about people getting hired and then fired based on a false resume, and then you see a blatant exaggeration on a big time TV networks website regarding a guys racing career.

Why bring it up? because this is the internet and people like to bring issues up and discuss. Usually, when someone brings something up that I don't care about, I ignore it. Simple as that. Kind of thought this was an F1 forum, and this "claim" is related to F1. If it is no interest, carry on.

I don't have much care about the Bachelor (well, none, actually) but I do agree that an official biography that's going to be read by a potentially large public audience really should have gone to the trouble of making sure the facts were accurate as presented.

Particularly, the sentence 'After a career as a respected Formula 1 racer, he shifted gears and is now a successful real estate broker in Scottsdale, Arizona' is a blatant lie. He never raced in Formula 1 under any circumstances, so he can't have had a respected F1 career. His Indy 500 performances were also quite poor, but there at least you can gloss over the details - he did qualify for the 500, which is more than most people can do.

I guess I don't really care about the source itself, I'm just a little bothered at one more proof that in the modern day, facts don't have any meaning to public relations people. And that's probably about as far as I can go down that topic without running straight into politics... ;)

Hahahahaha, yes I thought the same - F1 driver my bottom!

I think I'm a bit burned out on the Bachelor, having watched the last 10 seasons, also the Bachelorette, the Australian bachelor, the Australian bachelorette, the New Zealand bachelor, the Canadian bachelorette, Bachelor pad, Bachelor in Paradise.

I think me and the wife have watched nearly 40 series of this!

Arie's season is not so great so far, though it's hilarious to watch him trying not to stare at the girls breasts while he's dumping them.

Wow Alesi. I don't know if I should admire you, pity you or scold you.

40 series worth eh? I watched about 10 minutes of one once and was looking for a knitting needle to shove in my ear.

I've never watched any portion of the show. But did read the other day that one of the women who is competing this time had been reported missing by her family despite the fact that she was on this show and posting stuff to her Instagram account the whole time.
