Mercedes 1-2

Ferrari-Red bull 3-5

Best of the rest+gasly 6-18

Williams 19- 20

Anyone want to bet against that?

No but I'll bet there's at least one SC and there'll be an opportunity for someone to mix that up. Whether they take advantage of it strategy wise and driver wise I'm less sure on current form.

True. Baku is probably the most unpredictable race on the calendar!

Last year, if you got in DRS it was a guaranteed pass. Given that it’s easier to follow, it could be really interesting.

Not sure which team have gone for lower downforce and have more speed on straight. But I think top teams race pace is comparable and the midfield battle will also be good. As overtaking is possible here. I will not be surprised if both Ferrari crash out like RBR did last year.

Certainly there are a number of drivers out of position on the grid which will make for more overtaking.

I would predict a victory for Sebastian, but he hasn't been able to close the deal since last August in Belgium. Only a few more races and the Sky Sports pundits will start talking about his "winless streak".

I would love to see Charles get a podium tomorrow if not a win.

My prediction is that at some point during this race, Leclerc is going to appear behind Vettel and Seb will be ordered to let him pass.

I see that happening as well but Leclerc will not ask to be let by he will just pass him.

I can see Leclerc winning this for some reason, probably just a stupid gut feeling. But funny that id say Leclerc is more a favourite to win than vettel, says a lot about where he is at right now

Depends. It not necessarily easy to pass in equal cars - look at what heppened to Red Bull last year. If Leclerc comes up behind Vettel then I can see a "I'm faster than him" messsage being relayed, for the psychological value as much as anything else.

And if he does catch Vettel, assuming it's not just in the chaos of the start, then he would deserve to be let by. And I'd go so far as to say if that happens we may see a shift in priorities from Ferrari in coming races, too.

Thanks. So Leclerc has a couple of sets of the Soft tyre left - could be interesting if there's a SC later in the race! Curious to see how he fares at the beginning as he's going to be on the slower tyre to most of those around him. I'd heard during Free Practice that the gap between Medium and Soft was supposed to be up to 7 tenths over a lap. I'm always a bit skeptical of those estimates as they rarely turn out to be accurate, but it does suggest Leclerc may have his work cut out keeping up with the front runners at the beginning

The time when Leclerc made a mistake in Germany and tried to come back from it, he made a right mess of things. I think he's going to try and be careful when climbing back the order and I doubt he will get by Vettel if he even catches up to him. I only see this happening if Vettel messes up again. Or maybe he will be desperate to make up for his mistake and make another. I somehow don't feel his speed will continue like it was in qualifying without another mistake, or a decision to be more careful, which will result in him being a bit slower. I don't quite understand how so many people (not all on this site) seem to be so optimistic about him to catching right up to Vettel and passing him.

Will be interesting what impact Leclerc starting on the medium tyres will have. If they are the race tyre and he can go long then it will pull him back into contention

Leclerc starting 9th, has so many options with tyres, there will be SC’s, he is a contender to win. In fact I would say the Mercedes that leads after the first lap is favourite, Leclerc is second favourite.

Very odd that Hamilton had 3rd slowest finish line time but 2nd fastest S3? Mercedes looks like it will get breezed by if anyone gets DRS on them

So, that's Kimi starting at the back and another place forward for Leclerc.

Yeah his car failed the front wing deflection test.

So 2 questions.

1. How do they stiffen it?

2. How did the other Alfa pass?

Leclerc has to consider himself very lucky. Whan Bottas made a slight mistake by getting on the power just slightly too soon in Australia during qualifying last year, that resulted in a crash. Then starting P10, then getting a penalty and starting P15. Leclerc situation was something he could easily avoided by going straight on like other drivers did earlier. But he luckily got away without an extra penalty, and was lucky enough that Gasly and that Kimi have also been disqualified (or chose not to take part in gasly's case) moving him up 2 places. Very lucky.

I guess it's down to build quality. They will all flex a tiny bit and they probably are all very tight to this regulation. The slightest issue with it's build, plus possible changes to it's strength as a result of running over kerbs, could cause one to fail.

Is it equal cars when one driver is about half a second quicker, it's a similar situation to Bahrain were Leclerc was able to make the pass and then in Baku you have that long DRS straight, I don't think that Vettel will even look to hold up Leclerc.

Leclerc made a mess in Germany because it rained.

Well if season form is a guide then Bottas is the least likely to win it - the polesitter hasn't won yet this season!

DRS is too powerful. Makes overtaking a gimmie down the main straight.
