Europe 2012 - both drivers underperformed in qualifying (car had potential to be in the top 3) and Hulk lost KERS during the race, finished only 7 seconds off P3

Belgium 2012 - Hulk overtook Kimi during first stint, but was undercut in the first round of pit stops, finished 2.5 seconds behind P3

Brazil 2012 - Hulk was fantastic during that race, leading it quite comfortably... until spinning and ultimately crashing into Hamilton - that wasn't lost podium, it was a great win thrown away

Bahrain 2014 - outqualified, overtaken by (after getting undercut bonus on his team mate) and outraced by Perez, who finished P3

Canada 2014 - Perez without his braking problem would probably finish on the podium, behind or ahead of Rosberg, but Hulk only managed to finish behind Button in P5

Russia 2015 - outqualified Perez, but spun in first corner and was hit by Ericsson, Perez got lucky P3, Hulk DNF

Monaco 2016 - Hulk was running ahead of Perez, but pitted too early for inters and got stuck in traffic - his team mate finished in P3

Baku 2016 - outqualified and outraced by Perez, who without grid penalty after crashing in third practice, had a shot even at P2

Brazil 2016 - Hulk was quicker in wet conditions than Perez, but unlucky puncture shuffled him to the back, Perez finished only 4 seconds off P3

Baku 2017 - Hulk was running very close to Stroll, who eventually finished on the podium, but Nico crashed right after restart

Singapore 2017 - Hulk was ahead of Bottas, but firstly pitting for inters and then suffering engine failure robbed him of a podium chance

Baku 2018 - if Perez could finish P3 and Sainz P5, then Hulk had a shot at podium too, but he got grid penalty for gearbox change and then finally had another close encounter with Baku walls

I hope for his sake one day he finally makes it, because I'm sure it must be quite disheartening. So many wasted chances of a podium and a lot of his own making too.

That’s the main problem with Hulk, he lacks that killer insctint that sepparates the good drivers with the great ones. That hability to take advantage of the slightest opportunity, just like Checo has shown many times

Thank for the analysis.

Reminds me often of Heidfeld, a great driver, a lot of podiums and 2nd places, but never a win.

I also think that a factor of luck was not high with both of them.

Yes. Its amazing that a guy this good hasnt managed to get a single podium by now. But something tells me that sooner or later hes going to start racking them up.
