Top half of the grid as in top 12?? I honestly think they will have both cars in top 5, although what positions i do not know. I'd love Schumacher to go for pole. With slight fan bias, ill go for a Schumacher pole, and Button 2nd.

I think Macca are clearly ahead at the moment. RB and Merc just behind, possibly with Alonso getting into the mix with a top 5 spot. The Ferrari seems like it'll be a good qualifier, though, so row 2 may be attainable by either car. Race pace is still a question mark.

I think that Merc is seriously quick, don't forget Schuey's FP1 time was set long before the 2 macca's on a drying track, meaning its relatively quicker than it looks.

It was telling that Christian Horner said they've never done a light run in the Red Bull yet, sounds somewhat ominous but we can't tell a) is he telling porkies & b) which of the other teams have done similar?

I'd say that Force India time is probably indicative that they've likely made a big step forward, and maybe I'd give them an outside chance of beating Ferrari and Renault possibly, although that Ferrari looks fairly quick on the rare lap when it doesn't step out of line so who knows what Fernando can do with it.

Can't say I'd back Massa to do well in a car he can't have any confidence in though.

Its going to be very interesting to see where they all are come tomorrow, we'll be 20% of the way through the season before these teams can get any meaningful updates on the cars back in europe, so if any of the bigger teams have lost out to some of the smaller teams it could have a huge impact on their season as a whole.

I hope I'm wrong, but I'm convinced Red Bull will still be top of the pile. They haven't done any low fuel charges like several of the other teams have, and are really keeping their cards to their chests. Their car looks extremely advanced aerodynamically.

I don't think Merc will bother the top two gridslots, even though I'd like to see them mixing it with the big guns.

I believe this year's changes will be taking place behind Red Bull and McLaren.

It's interesting to read the predictions that Red Bull will not be at the front. After two years of dominance, I'll have to see it to believe it. I'm not saying it won't happen. In fact, at some point, it definitely will happen. I'm just not so sure that this is that point.

I agree. It will be business as usual tomorrow morning. I also hope that I'm wrong, but unfortunately...I never am

I do share the view that Macca seem to be over promising a bit and Merc a bit underprominsing. Redbull to be in top 6..but maybe not front row

it'll be either a McLaren or a Merc IMHO... Maybe a Vettel Banzai lap could succeed in causing a surprise.

In recent history has any team built a dominate car 3 years in a row? I can't think of one. Of course this doesn't mean Red Bull won't buck the trend but history is against them.

With no bias whatsoever, Schumacher on pole 3 seconds faster than anyone.

Nahh, I reckon Vettel will take pole, with Hamilton and Webber behind.

If Mercedes have really improved then I see Rosberg in top 3, Schumi maybe 4

Agree, guess we will see tomorrow if it turns out to be true.
If Merc turns out to be seriously fast and Macca falls to row 2 I will be seriously lol-ing.

Id say its between Button, Raikonen (renault sandbagging so far), rosberg and Vettel (they always have something in the bag).

In that order

Alonso already starting to throw the toys out of the bag???!!!

For those of us who haven't historically followed practice much, can we expect FP3 to have the teams showing their hand a lot more than today? Or will they still be fannying about until Quali?

I will say though, the likes of Force India and Merc look promising, you don't get that high up the timesheets without having some pace, even if Red Bull and Macca were sandbagging, I wouldn't be surprised if those two teams are #3 and #4 at worst in the pecking order once Seb pulls his trousers down and shows us what he's got.

The top teams will still have their engines turned down, they won't be on full whack until Q3. But FP3 gives a bit of an indicator as driver's will want to find the limits albeit in the top teams with their engines turned down. That's if it's dry anyway, if it's wet it's a different story.

If the conditions are "good", they most probably will do a few semi-quali runs with reasonably low fuel and s-tires. Also Mercedes does look reasonably strong indeed but Force India in my opinion is still in the higher midfield, just behind Lotus and about the same as Sauber. So if it will be sunny tomorrow, I think we can have a better view on the pecking order after P3.

We just don't know yet! That's the truth. Gunning for a Hamilton pole, but don't think you can just rule out seb! Any of macca, red bull, merc, alonso have a shot at the minute as I see it!

How about someone in top 10 to qualify on the harder tyre, and throw a spanner in the works come race day! CAN NOT WAIT. I love f1.

I really do hope Schumis speeds are a true show that the car is competitive. Id love to see Merc GP pull of a Brawn GP with Schumi leading the way.

3 Alonso
4 Rosberg
5 De Resta

24/Pit lane start Hamlton

*i know its wont happen, but i have a good chance of 3 out of 5 being up there.

Sadly I think it will be Vettel...

All though I do think Mercedes will be in the top 6 and the top four will include both McLaren's.
